{Valentines Day is Almost Here!}

Hello :)

Honestly, Valentine's Day is one of my FAVORITE holidays of the year! Every February, teachers ask my kiddos to bring decorated containers to pack home all of their candy, notes and treats, so I decided to see what was possible.  I LOVE wooden crates.  Especially white ones!  Banners are also adorable, as well as muslin bags and burlap ties. So, without further ado, this is what I came up with...

So much fun, right? :)

Here is another shot...

And one more...

Would you like to make one?  They are so simple and so much fun to make!
Here is what you'll need:

      A wooden crate
      White spray paint
      Cardstock
      Black ink pad
      ribbon
      burlap
      muslin bags
      Hershey Kisses :)

Okay, this is how you make it...

I found my crate at Walmart for $12.  I also found a really cute one at Hobby Lobby, a pewter grey color, but it wasn't quite the size I was looking for. These crates are fairly easy to find, I know that Michael's carries them as well.

First, spray paint the crate.   I used Krylon Super Maxx Flat white spray paint.  Just a plug: Krylon is amazing!  No sanding or priming is needed, and it adheres fast to the wood.  I was very impressed with this product.

Next, make the banner. Cut 3x4 inch rectangles out of card-stock and cut the edges into an inverted "V" shape.  Print the word "LOVE" onto a piece of cream card-stock using a font named Carnivalee Freakshow.  This is a FREE font, just go to 1001 Fonts and download it to your computer!  To get the cool vintage effect, rip the letters out instead of using scissors, and then distress them with black ink.  Glue them onto the card stock, punch holes into the "flags" and string them onto black ribbon.
(If you don't want to bother with the banner, you can purchase them in my Etsy Shop! My shop name is Fireflies At My Window, found at: firefliesatmywindow.etsy.com )

I ordered my muslin bags on Amazon, but you can also get these at Hobby Lobby.  I also bought the burlap at Hobby Lobby in the fabric section.  Cut the fabric into 1 inch strips and after stuffing the muslin bags with your favorite Valentine's Day treat, tie them with a bag and stuff them into the crate.

Tie on another bow and you're finished! :)

If you have any questions, please let me know.  Just email me at twiggyandegg@gmail.com and I'll get back to you ASAP.

Have a wonderful day!

Hello :)

My name is Bethany Christiansen, and I am so happy that you stopped by!  Welcome to my little slice of life where I would love to share my love for family, friends, home and everything creative!  Life is so short; my goal is to find joy every day.  I hope to share this joy with you.  <3

This blog is inspired by my two daughters.  Cami, my oldest daughter, is all arms and legs (her Papa is 6'5") so we nicknamed her Twiggy.  My youngest daughter, Kira, is, well, the youngest, so we call her Egg.  My son, Roman, is currently too cool to have a nickname :)  Here are a few shots of our little family.

This is us!  Except Matt, of course, who is taking the photo.

So, that's a bit about me :)

Thank you again for coming by!  If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know.

Well, here goes!  Let the adventure begin...
